Earthquake intensity can be preset in nine levels. When earthquake intensity is over than the preset earthquake intensity, the relay contact is operated.

Since many of conventional seismic sensors are magnet type or iron ball type, they don't work well unless the equipment is kept in a horizontal position.

And since the place of installation should be kept in a horizontal position, the gradient of installed sensor itself should be checked. So the way of fixation is limited

But since the three-axis acceleration sensor is embedded in this seismic sensor and the state at the time of installation is set as the point of origin, adjustment by level gauge is not needed.

Even if the installation site is inclined with age, both the maintenance and the inspection for horizontal degree are not needed because the function, which is the point of origin is corrected automatically, is installed.

This seismic sensor has the function that conflates three way of strengths of earthquake so that it is not affected by the direction of vertical, horizontal, or so.

This seismic sensor is the sensitivity preset type that uses acceleration sensor and can be preset in six levels for detected earthquake intensity.

It can be adjusted by use application such as it works at earthquake intensity above 3 or above 5.

And this can be installed on the DIN rail of control panel as it is and set with the relays. It is installed in the vacant space of existing equipment.

Specification for working

Setting acceleration : 9 levels such as 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450gal 

The relays are worked when the acceleration of earthquake is over the setting value and it lasts a few seconds.

This sensor is not worked at the vibration by cars which run near the seismic sensor or by being hit ball or at the artifactual impact.

1. External power for DC9~30V is connected to the terminal for V(+)G(-).
Since the terminal for COM, a, b are connected with relay contacts, they are connected with the sensor.
After the wiring is completed, you turn the switch to run.

The relays are worked when the earthquake intensity is over the preset value.
When it works, the LED for 400gal and 350gal are blinked on and off at intervals of one second one after the other.

Worked relays can be off when the switch is turned to the stop position.
After you confirm the relay does not work, you should turn the switch to run position.

Q : What is the difference between SISMO-ET302 and SISMO-ET303?


A : Regarding the function and the size of body, they are exactly the same.
Since the position of preset level changes a bit, it becomes easy to read.


Q : What is a seismic sensor?

A : A seismic sensor is the device which detect an earthquake and is worked after that.
Around us, a gas meter is installed in a house or a condominium. There is a seismic sensor in the gas meter. When an earthquake is occurred, the sensor will stop the gas automatically.


Q : Why is a seismic sensor needed?

A : Recently earthquakes occur frequently in Japan. The companies there have to defend the securities of their employees and their machines and facilities.
And the expensive machines and the facilities have to be stopped safely at the time of earthquake.
We cannot get away from a natural disaster such as earthquake. Therefore Japanese companies start to consider how quick they can be restored to their former state after disaster. Quick correspondence to restoration is very important for their company life.
Therefore it is important that facilities and machines should be stopped safely and be protected from breakage and fire and so on, and we should organize the system in order to restart quickly after disaster.

Q : Where should we install the SISMO-ET303?
How should we stop mochines and facilities?

A : It can be installed on an existing control panel.The programing that the output of seismic sensor return to the original point by the output connect to the input of PLC, which is a sequencer, is needed. And when there is an emergency stop switch there, it should be stopped at the time of earthquake for the output by connecting in parallel with the contact of the switch.
Regarding the specific way for stopping, since there are some ways for safety stop according to the machines or facilities, you should consider it closely.

 

According to the explanation table about the earthquake intensity by meteorological bureau, the following indoor situation is foreseen.

Earthquake intensity 2 Suspended objects such as electric lampS are swung a bit.
Earthquake intensity 3 Suspended objects such as electric lamps are swung a bit.
Earthquake intensity 4

Suspended objects such as electric lamps are swung much. Dishes on a shelf make a noise.
Unstable objects may fall down.

Earthquake intensity 5 lower

Suspended objects such as electric lamps are swung much. Dishes on a shelf make a noise.
Unstable objects may fall down.

Earthquake intensity 5 upper

 Many of dishes on a shelf and many of books on a book shelf fall down.
A television may fall down from a table.
Heavy articles of furniture such as closet may fall down.
Some doors may not open due to the deformation.
Some doors may come off.
